A Positive Life with HIV

While working with people affected by HIV/AIDS I have identified a number of recurring themes where coaching can be of benefit:
  • How and when should I disclose my HIV+ve status?

  • Should I go back to work or study and what should I do?

  • What can I do to maintain a health lifestyle to give my immune system the best possible chance?

  • How can I fit taking medications in with the rest of my life and how do I cope with the side effects?

  • I'd love to 'get out there' but I don't have the confidence.

  • I don't think that my doctor knows what it's like for me.  How do I get myself across better?

  • My relationships with my family and friends have suffered while I have been ill.  How can I repair the damage?

Working with a coach will help you to:

  • Gain confidence to tackle these and many other issues.

  • Clarify your thoughts by taking time to concentrate on 'you' .

  • Learn specific techniques to increase your assertiveness.

  • Explore your options for the future in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

Coaching is not counselling or therapy, which tend to focus on 'fixing' emotional problems that have come about due to past events.  Coaching takes you as you are today and concentrates very much on the future to develop the life that you want to live.
